What is U of NEA, anyway?

UofNEA is an ASUN affiliated club on UNR's campus. We focus on helping students form connections and community with others pursuing similar goals. When you join NEA you become a member at the local (us! UofNEA!), state (NSEA - Nevada State Education Association), and national level (NEA - National Education Association).
We host Social Events on and around campus for students to form connections with other aspiring educators. We host Volunteer Events to make a connection with the community and to provide you with experience. We host Professional Development Events so that you can learn about contemporary topics in education from professionals in the field.

Membership Levels

  • General members are university students that would like to be recognized as a part of our club and attend our events, but do not have to be education majors, and are not union members.

  • Active members are almost always education majors who have joined our club and our union not only so they can attend our events and be recognized by our club, but also so they can obtain the Liability Insurance from the NEA that is REQUIRED for student internships your last semester of college.

So… about those benefits?

  • Employment Educators Liability insurance coverage: $1,000,000 liability insurance and legal protection for educators

  • FREE travel around the state and the U.S. to represent Nevada at NEA’s Aspiring Educators Conference and NSEA conferences (notably Delegate Assembly)

  • Eligible to attend the graduation celebration with free food when you graduate, along with getting a special stole and cord when you graduate!
